New Delhi: Congress chief Sonia Gandhi on Tuesday met President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.
Sonia met Murmu for the first time after Murmu was elected as President.
“President, Indian National Congress Sonia Gandhi called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan,” President’s Secretariat said in a tweet.
Sources in the Congress said it was a courtesy visit.
Murmu is the first tribal President of the country. The Congress did not support her candidature and backed former Union minister Yashwant Sinha, the joint opposition candidate. (UNI)
