LeT militant killed in Bla gunfight

Srinagar: A Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant was killed in a gun battle that erupted between the militants and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Sunday, officials said.

They said the gun battle erupted at Binner on Saturday evening during a cordon and a search operation in the area following an input about the presence of militants in the area.

“As the joint team of forces cordoned the suspected spot, the hiding militants opened fire, triggering a gunfight. There was lull during the night after initial contact with the militants. However, soon the dawn appears fresh contact was established with the hiding militants during which a LeT militant identified as Irshad Ahmad Bhat of Pattan was killed,” a security official said.

They said Irshad was active since May 2022. One AK rifle, two magazines and 30 rounds were recovered near the site of the encounter.
