5 more houses attached in Sgr: Police

Srinagar: Five more houses in Srinagar were attached for being used for purpose of militancy, police said on Thursday.

The houses were attached as per sections 2(g) & 25 of Unlawful activities prevention act and ” wilfully” providing shelter to militants.

Police said the houses attached belonged to Baber Suhail Sofi of Lawaypora Usman Abad; Adil Mohammad Lone of Bazar Mohalla Lawaypora; Muzaffar Ahmad Mir and Rameez Ahmad Mir both sons of Khursheed Ahmad Mir of Maloora; Abdul Majeed Ganie of Firdous Abad of Batamaloo and Abdul Rehman Bhat of Darbagh Harwan.

“During course of investigation, it was proved beyond doubt that these houses were used by active terrorists in conspiring, planning and executing terrorist acts in Srinagar district,” a police spokesman said. “The house owners willfully provided shelter and harboured the terrorists in these houses, they also provided logistics needed for such stay.”

In March this year, J&K Police had warned that properties of those who provide shelter to militants would be attached. So far, several houses in Srinagar have been attached. (UNI)
