JKAP 6th battalion organizes plantation drive

Poonch: Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police’s (JKAP) 6th battalion Friday organized a plantation drive at Battalion headquarters Poonch in collaboration with local officers of horticulture department.

The aim and objective of the joint plantation drive was to convey message to the local society for the conservation of ecological balance while mitigating all differences and to come at one platform for this noble cause.

Speaking on the occasion, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Commandant JKAP 6th battalion, Suram Singh said that the plantation will be a great gift for coming generations in terms of maintenance of natural balance and maintenance of temperature of the environment which is increasing day by day.

He said police of course is performing its duties for the protection of property and life of people, to mitigate sufferings due to the natural calamities like Covid-19, cloud burst, flood etc. and also performing a wonderful role to maintain safety, security and peace in the area apart from anti-militancy operations, but besides this the police of JKAP 6th Bn. has played an exemplary role in the plantation of variety of plants as well as flowers.

He stressed on the occasion that being human being despite providing shelter, food and clean environment to the society, it is also our moral duty to do something for the shelter, shade and food of birds as well as animals.

He thanked HDO Mohd Rafiq, Mendhar and his team for participating and for their contribution in said noble cause. On the occasion, the request was made to all the manpower participating in the said drive and also to civilians of the area to grow more and more plants and also to preserve, grow and protect the plants in order to make the aim behind the plantation drives successful.

In the said drive variety of flora including medicinal, ornamental and fruit saplings were planted. The police personnel of JKAP 6th Bn. also encouraged the locals to take part in the said drive, so that a large number of saplings can be locally prepared and planted for increasing the green cover of the area.

On this occasion good number of officers/officials of JKAP 6th battalion including Mohd Farooq Khan-Dy.SP participated with enthusiasm. Whole exercise was carried out while maintaining the social distance.
