Police constable shot at, injured

Srinagar: A senior grade police constable was shot at and injured by unknown militants in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Sunday, official said.
A spokesman police said, “Today at about 1930 hours militants fired upon a SgCT Firdous Ahmad at his residential house at Hugam Srigufwara area of Anantnag.”
“Soon after the crime senior police and security officials reached the spot to ascertain the situation. The constable had received gunshot injuries. Subsequently, was shifted to Sub District Hospital (SDH) Bijbehara for treatment where from he was referred to 92 Base Army Hospital Srinagar for special treatment,” he added.
“Police have registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of law. Investigation is in progress and officers continue to work to establish the full circumstances of this crime. Meanwhile, the area has been cordoned off and search in the area is going on to nab the attackers,” the spokesman added.
