‘Kargil Victory Flame’ reaches Kulgam

Srinagar: To commemorate 23rd Kargil Vijay Diwas, the ‘Kargil Victory Flame’ on Monday reached Wuzur in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, a defence spokesman said.

The ‘Kargil Victory Flame’ is traversing through the Kashmir Valley, a journey of 400 Km in approximately 40 days. The ‘Kargil Victory Flame’ will reach Kargil War Memorial on July 26.

At Wuzar, the torch was received at the Northern portal of Navyug Tunnel and carried by soldiers of Chinar Corps.

In remembrance of war heroes and bravehearts of the Kargil War, Wreaths were laid by the war veterans and serving soldiers at Wuzur.

A large enthusiastic gathering including 110 school children, 95 ex-Servicemen and five Kargil War Veterans gathered to pay respect to the Kargil Victory Flame. The students of Army Goodwill School sang patriotic songs during the event.

The ‘Kargil Victory Flame’ will be escorted to Khanabal tomorrow, the spokesman said.
