Estranged husband throws wife from 4th floor of apartment

Agra (UP): A woman died after being thrown from the fourth floor of an apartment building in the Taj Ganj area of the city on Friday.

Police sources said the victim Ritika was living in a live-in relationship with one Vipul Agarwal on the fourth floor of Om Shri Apartment in Taj Ganj Phase-1. “While Ritika was pursuing divorce case from her husband and Vipul was having divorce case from his wife,” they said.

Police sources said on Friday around 12 noon three youths and two women came to their flat and after some time residents of the apartment heard the sound of a heavy thing hitting the floor. “When they came out of their flats they found the body of Ritika lying in the pool of blood,” they said.

Police sources said the residents immediately informed the police after which Deputy Superintendent of Police Archana Singh along with Taj Ganj police reached the spot. “The police have detained two women Sunita and Sushila along with one Akash Gautam and Vipul have been detained,” they said.

Police sources when quizzed Vipul said that five persons, including Ritika’s husband Akash Gautam came to their flat and started assaulting them. “Vipul has claimed that the attackers first tied Ritika with a rope, strangulated her and later threw her body. He claimed that the attackers also intended to kill him, but he somehow raised an alarm,” they said.
