2 feared dead, 11 rescued at Tarsar Lake

Anantnag: Two persons are feared dead while 10 tourists and two guides were rescued after a group of people, on an expedition to Tarsar lake, were trapped in the south Kashmir region on Wednesday.

As per official sources, as soon as inputs regarding the tourists were received, a special team of rescuers comprising trained personnel from Revenue, Police and NDRF were pressed into service. The group of people had been sightseeing at Tarsar when they were washed away on a makeshift bridge due to a strong current, the officials said.

The two missing persons, Dr Mahesh from Uttarakhand and Shakeel Ahmad from Gagangeer Ganderbal, are feared drowned.

Those rescued, they said, include Rajesh Roshan (50), Prof. DVR, of Uttrakhand, Mukhan Kumaiya (prof. Pvt teacher of Bangalore), Dharam of Nanital Uttrakhand, Jai Ram of Bangalore,  Sukumar Dhandapani of Tamil Nadu, Vinkas Krishan , Kanchan of uttrakhand (prof. H/w), Locals Mohammad Ishaq Lone of Pahalgam, Parvaiz  Ahmad (Ponny wala). (GNS)
