IED material, RPG recovered in Awantipora

Srinagar: Security forces recovered an improvised explosive device (IED) material and rocket-propelled grenade in Awanatipora sub-district of Jammu and Kashmir, Police said on Friday.

They said the recovery was made by joint forces during a cordon and search operation at Nowdal Tral.

ā€œThe Awantipora Police, along with Army (42 RR) and CRPF (180Bn) acting on specific input, launched a cordon and search operation in the general area of Nowdal Tral. During the search, some IED material, RPG (grenade) and other incriminating materials were recovered,ā€ a police spokesman said.

Police has registered a case under relevant sections of law at Police Station Tral and investigation has been set into motion.

On Thursday, security forces averted a major tragedy by recovering 15 kg IED in a village in district Pulwama and arrested two militant associates involved in the case. The IED was found in village Armullah Litter and it was hidden in a pressure cooker.
