Amit Shah stresses on rural development to make India Atmanirbhar

Anand: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation, Amit Shah on Sunday emphasised on rural development and empowering India’s villages to realise the dream of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

Attending the 41st convocation ceremony of the Institute of Rural Management Anand at IRMA Campus here as Chief Guest, Shah said, ‘The dream of establishing an Atmanirbhar Bharat will only be realised when India’s villages are Atmanirbhar. This dream cannot be realised without an institute like IRMA.

“I would like to say that IRMA should contribute more towards the strengthening and development of the

co-operative sector, which is inclusive. To make it more inclusive, transparent, modern and technology-enabled and through this medium of co-operatives, people, sectors and villages can be made Atmanirbhar.

“This can be achieved, only when institutions like IRMA increase their contribution towards co-operatives.

“What a farmer cultivates needs to be marketed well. Co-operative model is the way forward for marketing these products. The entire co-operative sector got impetus as a Ministry of Co-operation was formed under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership.

“Without rural development, Indiaā€™s development is not possible. Today, 70 per cent of Indians live in rural India. If our villages become active contributors to the country’s development and progress, India can become a five trillion dollar economy in the next five years. It is our responsibility to focus on rural development,ā€ the Minister further went on to say.

Some 251 students were awarded degrees in Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) in Rural Management.

IRMA Chairman Dilip Rath and IRMA Director Umakant Dash were present on the occasion.
