Principles of democracy should guide global governance: PM Modi

Kanpur Dehat (UP):  Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said it is the power of democracy that a person born in a poor family in a village can become the President, the PM, Governor and Chief Minister, but we need to be cautious against challenges posed by dynasty politics.

Addressing a public function Paraunkh, the ancestral village of President Ram Nath Kovind in Kanpur Dehat district, Modi said, “It is the power of our democracy that a person born in a poor family in a village can reach the post of the President, PM, Governor and the CM, but today when we are talking about this power of democracy then we need to be remain cautious of challenges like dynasty politics standing before it.”

President Ram Nath Kovind, his wife Savita Kovind, Uttar Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were present on the occasion.

He said, “It is dynasty that throttles talents not only in politics, but in every sector and prevents them from progressing. When I talk about dynasty politics, some people feel that its a political statement and it is publicised that I am talking against a political party.”

Modi said, “I can see that those who fit perfectly in my definition of dynasty are angry with me. They are getting united against me in every corner of the country. They are also angry with the fact that the youths of the country are taking Modi seriously on the issue of dynasty politics.”

He said, “I want to tell these people that don’t misinterpret me. I don’t have any personal grudge against a political party or a person. I want that there should be a strong opposition in the country and political parties dedicated to democracy. I want that the parties trapped in the clutches of dynasty should free themselves from it and they should cure themselves, then only democracy of India will become and the youth of the country will get maximum opportunity to join politics.”

The PM said, “Maybe I am expecting too much from these parties, therefore I say between you all that it’s our responsibility that we should not allow evil like dynasty to flourish in the country. It is very necessary to stop family oriented parties so that son or daughter of a poor villager can become the President and the Prime Minister.”

He said the experience of coming to the President’s ancestral village is like a happy memory of life. “When I was visiting different places, I felt ideal images of an Indian village in Paraunkh. I got the chance to seek blessings of Pathari Mata. Along with being the spiritual aura of this village, this temple is also a symbol of ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat’,” he said.

Modi said the President has his ancestral house to be developed as a Milan Kendra and today it is giving new strength to women empowerment as a counselling and training center. “Due to his effort as a center of principles of Baba Saheb an Ambedkar center has also been constructed here. I have faith that in future Paranukh will move on the path of development with speed due to your collective efforts and present a model of development before the country,” he said.

He said the soul of India lives in its villages. “Today when the country is celebrating Azami ka Amrit Mahotsava then our dreams for rural India and our villages become more important. During the freedom struggle Mahatma Gandhi used to see the independence of India by connecting it with the villages of the country. The village of India means, where there is spirituality and there should also be ideals as well. The village of India means, where there are traditions and there is also progress as well. The village of India means wherever there is culture and there should also be co-operation and where there is love and there is equality,” he said.

The PM said during this Azadi ka Amit Kaal it is our duty that re-organisation of such villages takes place. “With this resolve the country is working in various aspects of villages, poor, agriculture, farmers and Panchayati democracy. Today roads are constructed with maximum speed in the villages of India, optical fiber is being laid, houses are being constructed and LED streetlights are being installed. This is the idea and resolve of the new India that villages walk hand in hand with the cities on every path of development,” he said.

He said no one imagined that one day the toughest work related to farming will be done through drones. “But today the country is heading in this direction. Our villages have maximum potential, work force and maximum dedication, therefore empowerment of the villages of India is one of the top priorities of our government,” he said.

Modi said the target of the government is to take cent per cent benefit of schemes to cent per cent beneficiaries meaning cent per cent empowerment. “No discrimination and no difference this is the social justice. Harmony and equality was the dream of Bada Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar on the basis of which he gave us our Constitution. That dream of Baba Saheb is getting realised today. The country is heading in that direction,” he said.

He appealed to the residents of Paraunkh village to adopt natural farming. “Maximum farmers in Paraunkh village should adopt natural farming as it will set an example for the entire country,” he said.
