ACB traps SIDCO manager for accepting bribe

Srinagar:   Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested Jammu and Kashmir State Industrial Development Corporation (SIDCO) Manager for demanding and accepting bribe from a complainant for issuance of No Objection Certificate (NOC).

ACB in a statement said it received a complaint from a resident of Suthra Shahi, Srinagar alleging therein that he is an industrial unit holder at Khunmoh, Srinagar.

For expansion of the said industrial Unit he had requested for financial support/assistance from the J&K Bank Khunmoh. The bank sought NOC from SIDCO Sanat Ghar, Bemina, Srinagar.

The complainant prepared a file and completed all paperwork and approached SIDCO office Bemina where State Manager Fayaz Ahmad Khan posted there demanded Rs 5,000 for himself and Rs 1 lakh for General Manager Khursheed Ahmad for issuance of the required NOC.

He approached ACB with a request for necessary legal action against these corrupt officers for demanding bribe. Similarly a case was filed at Police Station ACB Srinagar and a trap team was constituted.

The team laid a successful trap and caught Fayaz Ahmad Khan, State Manager SIDCO Sanat Ghar, Bemina, Srinagar red-handed while demanding and accepting bribe from the complainant.

He was arrested on the spot by the ACB team. The bribe money was also recovered from him in presence of independent witnesses.

Further investigation is going on, the statement said.
