AIBEA condemns bank manager’s killing

Hyderabad: All India Bank Employees’ Association (AIBEA) condemned the killing of Bank Manager, who was shot dead in broad daylight in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday.

AIBEA demands the Union Government to bring the culprits to book, General Secretary Ch Venkatachalam told UNI.

He said the news of the tragic killing of Vijay Kumar, Manager of Ellaqai Dehati Bank and a resident of Hanumangarh in Rajasthan by an unidentified gunmen at Arreh in Kulgam, who later succumbed to his injuries, is a matter of serious concern to all of us in the banking sector.

Venkatachalam said ‘Every now and then we get such disturbing news from one state or the other. Lot of qualified youngsters like Kumar are joining the banks for their career and better prospects.

“It is a pity that such incidents do happen periodically with no solution about the security of bank staff.

“Government wants us to serve the people and so employees and officers are posted at various places.

“If the Banks and the Government cannot safeguard the staff, bank employees cannot work in peace and without fear,’ the top union leader contended.
