Organise global auction event for famous Kishtwar sapphire sale: Secy Mining

Jammu: Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Mining Department Amit Sharma on Tuesday advocated for global auction event for sapphire sale.

Sharma was taking a maiden review meeting on the working of J&K Minerals Corporation here at Civil Secretariat.

He directed that all steps must be taken immediately to organise a grand Global Auction event for Sapphire sale so that this rare gem discovered on the hills of J&K can fetch best sale proceeds through it.

It was informed during the meeting that J&K Minerals Corporation is actively extracting precious gem Sapphire from Padder, Kishtwar hills during an activity season spanning over 3-4 months during summers every year.

The meeting was attended by Vikram Gupta MD, J&K Minerals alongwith his team, Suresh Kumar Koul, Director Finance Mining Department and Arun Kishore Kotwal, Additional Secretary Mining Department.

Sharma during the meeting observed that J&K Minerals is doing a good and consistent work over last few years especially regarding extraction of coal from Kalakote Mines and gypsum from Parlanka Mines which is resulting into handsome income for the Corporation and helping to clear lot of pending dues for the employees of the Corporation.

The General Manager J&K Minerals requested for allotment of few more Minor Mineral Blocks by the Government as per last Board Meeting decision which can help in adjusting Kalakote Coal Mine Workers in such blocks, as the work of mining has reduced substantially in Coal Mines due to lot of coal extraction taking place continuously over last few years.

Before the culmination, Secretary Amit Sharma directed MD J&K Minerals to introduce maximum technological interventions for bringing more efficiency in operations of the Corporation leading towards total transparency and best outcomes.

He assured that the Government will support all positive steps being taken for making this oldest Corporation of J&K to new heights.
