Uri: A woman died as she jumped into river Jhelum after a massive blaze engulfed her house in Uri area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
Official sources told GNS that a massive fire broke out in a 3-storey house and cowshed adjacent to it at Ijhara Pehlipora Boniyar. They said Tanzeema Beguma, daughter-in-law of house owner, jumped in river Jehlum out of panic. Fire and Emergency Services department controlled the blaze while there body of the woman was later recovered, they said.
A police officer told GNS that soon after the report was received, police and SDRF assisted by locals launched a rescue operation which culminated with the retrieval of body from the river near Challan Boniyar reservoir.
