Gusty winds create panic in Kashmir
Srinagar:  Four soldiers were rescued after their boat capsized due to windstorm in Wullar Lake at Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday.

Tourists who were out sightseeing at the famous Dal Lake in Shikaras were rescued by the men from the Quick Response Teams following gusty winds that created panic in Srinagar today.

Sources said that soldiers were part of Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) when their boat capsized following which a massive rescue operation was launched by the army.

The four troopers have been rescued and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Tourists who were sightseeing in the famous Dal Lake in Shikaras were rescued by the men from the Quick Response Teams following gusty winds that created panic in Srinagar on Tuesday.

As soon as the gusty winds began in and around the Dal Lake it created waves in the waters as many tourists and locals who were sightseeing in Shikaras were rescued by the members of Quick Response Teams of the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and taken to safer locations.

 

“We have taken most of them to safer locations however there are still some and rescue is on to evacuate them also”, the official said.

Reports from south Kashmir said that a school building was damaged in Dadsar Tral when a huge Chinar tree fell on it due to strong winds.

Gusty winds were also reported from several southern and northern parts of Kashmir that uprooted trees and damaged roof tops of the houses. However, there was no report of any injury.
