4 feared dead, 20 injured as bus catches fire near Katra

Jammu: At least four passengers were feared killed, while more than 20 sustained burn injuries, when a passenger bus ferrying Shri Mata Vaishno Devi pilgrims caught fire near Katra town in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.
Police said that a bus ferrying pilgrims was going from Katra towards Jammu, when it caught fire, a few kilometers away from Nomain.
Union Minister Jitendra Singh tweeted, “Immediately after receiving information of Bus mishap at #Katra, just now spoke to Deputy Commissioner, #Reasi (J&K), Babila Rakwal. casualties reported, injured shifted to Naraina Hospital. All possible help, financially and otherwise, will be provided to the injured.”
“Four persons feared to be charred alive, while 23 were injured,” police added.
Police and locals immediately swung into action and launched rescue operation.
The injured were rushed to the hospital.
Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Jammu Zone, Mukesh Singh said the FSL teams have been deputed to ascertain the cause of the incident.
