ACB arrests revenue official in bribery case

Jammu: The sleuths of Anti Corruption Bureau(ACB) on Tuesday trapped and arrested one revenue official while another managed to escape in a bribery case.

The official spokesman said that a complaint was received wherein it was alleged that one Arish Parvaiz, Patwari halqa Digiana through his associate Jatinder Kumar alias Jatin was demanding a bribe amounting to Rs 15,000 from the complainant for issuance of Fard Intakab (revenue record).

The complainant alleged that his brother-in-law intended to sell a piece of land situated at Dashmesh Nagar, Gangyal, Jammu and had applied for the issuance of the document but the revenue official did not provide the same despite fulfilling all the formalities.

The complainant, spokesman said had visited many times to the concerned official and requested for the document but instead the latter demanded Rs 15000.

“The associate of the Patwari also called the complainant to pay the bribe money for issuance of the fard,” he said, adding that a case was registered and investigation has been taken-up.

During the course of investigation, he added that a team caught an associate of the Patwari red handed while demanding and accepting the bribe of Rs 15,000 from the complainant on behalf of Patwari, who fled from the spot.

The bribe money was also recovered from his possession in presence of independent witnesses while a manhunt is on to nab the absconding Patwari.
