5000 fresh scholarships available for poor students in J&K

Srinagar: 5000 fresh scholarships are available per annum for poor students of J&K and Ladakh for study in India outside Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh under Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Protsahan (PM-USP), Ministry of Education, Government of India said on Monday.
This programme will help the students belonging to the economically weaker sections of society in the two union territories.

“Under PM-USP Special Scholarship for Students of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, 5000 fresh scholarships are available per annum for poor students of J&K and Ladakh for study in India outside Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh,” Ministry of Education announced on twitter.

The ministry has also reduced the upper limit of family income for availing the scholarship.
“From financial year 2022-23, the upper limit of parental/family income of eligible students has been revised to the same ceiling of Rs 4.5 lakh per annum under PM-USP Scholarships for College & University Students and Central Sector Interest Subsidy scheme,” another tweet said.
The earlier limit for students from Jammu and Kashmir was that they have passed class 12 and also secured an admission outside the state in the institutions, which are either approved by the UGC or recognised by the AICTE and family income was Rs six lakh per annum.
