Militants attack minority guard picket, no injuries

Srinagar: Militants attacked a minority guard picket in south Kashmir’s Shopian district this morning, officials said.
There was, however, no injury reported in the incident.
Officials said the firing took place at a minority guard deployed at Batagund Shopian at around 9.30 am.
“The fire was retaliated by the alert guard personnel, however, militants fled away from the place taking advantage of nearby orchards,” a police official said.
“There was no loss of life or injury reported,” he added.

The area has been cordoned off by the forces to nab the attackers.

Minority pickets are security pickets deployed in villages in the Valley where members of the minority community live.

This is the second attack in the last 16 hours in Kashmir. On Monday evening, a Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel was killed and another wounded in a militant attack in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
