Ramadan Friday congregational prayers held in Jamia Masjid after 2 yrs

Srinagar: For the first time during the past two years the Friday congregational prayers in the month of Ramadan were held at the historical Jamia Masjid in Srinagar.

The Mosque situated at Nowhatta in downtown Srinagar remained closed during the past two years in the holy month of Ramadan aimed Covid-19 restrictions.

Thousands of people including women and children thronged the mosque from all walks of life today to offer the Friday congregational prayers in the mosque on the first Friday of the month of Ramadan.

The devotees were frisked by the sleuths of the Anjuman Auqag Jamia Masjid before allowing them to enter the mosque.

The Friday sermon was delivered by the Moulana Syed Ahmad Syed Naqashbandi who also led the prayers. The prayers were offered peacefully.

The congregational prayers on the first Friday of the month of Ramadah were also held at the Aasar-e-Sharief Hazratbal housing the holy relic of the prophet Muhammad on the bank of Dal Lake, Khan-e-Kah-e Moula, Dastageer Sahab Khanyar and all other mosques and shrines of the valley peacefully.
