Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday detained a notorious thief under the Public Safety Act (PSA) who is involved in at least five cases of burglary and theft besides spreading fear and terror among the people in frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara.
The police, in a statement, said a notorious thief involved in at least five cases of burglary and theft in and around Kupwara town was detained under Jammu and Kashmir PSA for his unrelenting criminal acts of burglary and theft and lodged in Central Jail.
The thief has been identified as Mudasir Ahmad Lone alias “Mud Chour” of Mughalpora Kupwara who is Known for spreading “fear and terror” among peace loving people of the town, police said.
“After assessing his incorrigible behavior and consistent involvement in criminal cases, a dossier of his wrongdoings was prepared by District Police Kupwara and a detention warrant under PSA was obtained and executed against Mud Chour,” the police statement read.
