Srinagar:  Two students of DPS Srinagar, Areen Afaq Ashai of Class 10th and Rahil Ayoub Thakur of Class 12th from DPS Srinagar have received the Global STEM Changemaker Scholarship for 2022.
This new initiative aims to provide 5,000 young people worldwide with immersive learning experiences through STEM, global competence, and sustainability-focused intercultural exchange programs.

The scholarship aims to equip young people to face a changing world by inculcating in them critical knowledge skills in digital science, data science and wider STEM awareness to improve their critical thinking, intercultural awareness and team skills.

For young people, in the age group from 14 to 16, it commences with a virtual curriculum on global competence skills and culminates in a two-day in-person workshop, focused on sustainable development and local impact. The 2022 workshops are scheduled to take place in Perth, Australia, Cairo, Egypt, Jakarta, Indonesia, Belgium & Italy.

Congratulating the students, the Principal Shafaq Afshan said, “We are delighted that our students are not just competing on a global level, but also successfully competing to win scholarships. It is a tribute not only to the talent of our students, but also to our teachers who train them.” The Chairman Vijay Dhar too congratulated the students, and said “At DPS Srinagar we have always aimed to nurture the talent in the community so that it can compete at all levels – local, national and international. We are constantly in the process of improving and exploring so that the students in the valley don’t feel hampered by lack of exposure.”

PDP leader Surinder Chaudhary joins BJP

Jammu/Chandigarh, April 5 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party got another jolt in J&K on Tuesday as senior PDP leader Surinder Chaudhary joined BJP, along with more than a dozen other leaders.

BJP national General Secretary Tarun Chugh welcomed them to the partyfold at a function in Jammu and said the development agenda of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has ushered in a new era, following which, BJP has been gaining popularity in the Union Territory.

Focusing his attack on Abdullah and Mufti families, Chugh said it was about time that Hitlers of J&K were exposed because they promoted family business and exploited the state resources in the last six decades.

The BJP leader said the struggle launched by Shyama Prasad Mukherjee to give honour and respect to the people of J&K has reached fruition under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

BJP has transformed J&K from a terrorist to a tourist state. The youth has been given laptops and computers, instead of grenades and stones, he added.

“The Prime Minister’s dream needs to be realised and we should all work for it,” Chugh told the party workers.
