Srinagar: An encounter has broke out between security forces and militants in Rainawari area of central Kashmir’s Srinagar district.
An official told GNS that on receipt of specific input about presence of militants in Rainawari, a joint party of forces subsequently laid a cordon at the site.
Soon after, the militants opened fire the party, triggering an encounter, the official said.
Meanwhile Kashmir Zone Police wrote on its Twitter handle; “#Encounter has started at #Rainawari area of #Srinagar. Police and CRPF are on the job. Further details shall follow (sic.).” (GNS)
