JK handicapped association calls off strike
Srinagar: Authorities of social welfare department on Wednesday said that the Jammu and Kashmir commission for women has been constituted vide Government order No. 17-JK (SWD) of 2022 dated 8.2.2022 to secure and safeguard the rights of women of the UT of J and K.
The statement in this regard came from SWD authorities in reply to the reports carried by a section of print media that women in J and K suffer in the absence of women’s commission.
In the statement the authorities further said that the J and K handicapped association called off the strike after they were assured that their demands will be taken up with the concerned departments and agencies.
“President of the J and K handicapped association called on the commissioner secretary , SWD and handed over a charter of demands in her office chambers last week. After the assurance by the commissioner secretary the association called off the strike,” statement said.
