Russian strike kills 21 in Sumy: Ukraine

Kyiv: At least 21 civilians were killed in a Russian air strike on Sumy, according to media reports on Tuesday Citing the Regional Prosecutor’s Office, CNN reported the office confirming “the death of 19 adults and 2 children as a result of an air strike in the city,” “As a result of the bombing, one house was completely destroyed, 16 were partially destroyed,” it said.

Ukraine and Russia agreed on Tuesday to one evacuation corridor in Sumy, which has seen sustained Russian attacks and airstrikes in recent days.

CNN quoted the Interior Ministry as saying that the Russian forces had targeted an apartment building. One injured woman was rescued from the rubble. Ukrainian MP Lesia Vasylenko said the region is with no electricity, heat and water.

“Sumy, north Ukraine. Whole region without electricity, heat, water. But still standing. Tonight Russia bombs killed 9 people, 2 of them children. The courage continues, despite no #NoFlyZoneOverUkraine,” she tweeted. (UNI)
