Work on transit accomodation for KPs in full swing : Govt

Srinagar: Authorities on Tuesday said that the work on the transit accomodations for Kashmiri pandits is going on in full swing at various locations across Kashmir valley.
The authorities, in a statement discredited the reports being carried by a section of print media regarding these transit camps and added that work on these transit accomodations is going on in full swing at seven locations.
In a detailed statement authorities said that the land was to be acquired in the initial phase for the construction of these transit accomodations. However die to the cost escalation and time constraints of land aquisition process , a decision in 2019 was taken to aquire land with an aim to speed up the construction work.
The land, statement said, was identified at 19 locations and transferred to DMRRR for the construction of transit accomodations in valley.
The statement said that the construction of these transit accomodations has been taken up in a mission mode on the directions of honorable LG.
The suspension of construction work during winters and emergence of first two waves of Covid 19, the statement said, led to delay in constructions, however , it said that the work on these constructions continued at a good pace during third wave.
Further , the administrative approval , the statement said , has been accorded to all the works to be carried out at 19 locations thus paving the way for completion of these transit accomodations.
The statement said that 90 percent of construction work at Shiekhpora Budgam and 76 percent at Wandhama Gandarbal is complete while construction work on these accomodations is in full swing at other places.
