Post snowfall: Measures taken for better power supply to Charar-e-Sharief areas: PDD

Srinagar: After snowfall caused extensive damage to power infrastructure in Budgam areas, the Power Development department (PDD) has said that the measures have been taken to ensure better power supply to Charar-e-Sharief and other adjacent areas.

An official communiqué issued to Precious Kashmir said that as reported by concerned AEE, due to recent heavy snowfall, Nowbugh Grid Station Transmission line underwent a huge damage, which caused tremendous power problem to Charari Sharief & Nagam along with its adjoining areas.

“As stop gap arrangement, all the receiving stations Char1, Char 2 & Nagam were shifted on 33kv Budgam Ichgam Chadora line, since the same line is feeding power supply to receiving station Choon, Ichgam & Chadora, it couldn’t bear the additional load of Char 1, Char 2 & Nagam, which resulted in huge tripping of 33kv line due to over drawl,” it said.

“Now both Charari Sharief as well as Nagam have been shifted on Pampore Grid for the time being till Nowbugh Grid Transmission line is restored back, we hope both the localities will get better power supply, inconvenience caused to the general public is not any deliberate attempt but it is natural, however, the department will try to improve it within the Grid & line constraints,” it added.
