Kathua: AGMO and MI Kathua Monday held an awareness camp for growers and rural women at Panchayat Ghar Nagrota, block Barnoti in Kathua district.
Apart from the Chief Guest Vicky Sharma Sarpanch, FLC LDM Office, Manager J&K Bank Barnoti, Block Program Manager NRLM Barnoti, a number of growers and rural women participated in today’s awareness camp.
The participants were provided information about value addition, packaging, branding and marketing of local produce like curry leaves, amchur, Barrian, mushroom, vegetables and mangoes pickles.
Ladies were asked to start their small units in food processing, for which the Department of Horticulture Planning and Marketing shall provide full hand holding. Growers were asked to grow Jackfruit, Harad, Jimikand, Tarad, Alovera, Lemon grass and mushroom so as to avoid monkey menace.
FCL Officer from LDM Kathua and Manager J&K Bank Barnoti apprised the gathering about a number of bank schemes for growers and rural women so as to make them self reliant as well as extend them with benefits of social security schemes.
BPM NRLM Barnoti informed that SHG females are starting with two small units in the block under UMEED project viz., Pickles and Amchur making for which AGMO Kathua requested LDM to arrange training for women through RSETI.
Sarpanch extended votes of thanks and appreciated today’s awareness camp wherein valuable information is passed to villagers.
