KCCI president anguished over acid attack

Srinagar: Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCC&I) President, Sheikh Ashiq Ahmad Wednesday expressed shock and deep anguish at the heinous crime of the acid attack on a 24-year-old girl near Safa Kadal Srinagar.

Sheikh Ashiq termed the occurrence of the incident very disheartening as it indicates towards the moral degradation of the society at large especially the youth who have fallen prey to drugs and other immoral activities.

He stated that incidents of Acid Attack were alien to our culture and had therefore caused widespread anger and consternation amongst all sections of the society. “The conscience of the society has been shaken to its very core. Whereas we have no doubt that justice will be delivered as swiftly as possible in this case, it is also a time for assessing the reasons for the degradation of social values and moral ethics amongst of our youth,” he said.

Sheikh Ashiq said that Kashmir chamber remains steadfast with the family of the effected girl and also expressed gratitude towards JK Police especially SSP Rakesh Balwal and SP North Raja Zuhaib for the prompt arrest of the culprits involved in this heinous crime. He urged the administration for fast track case conviction.
