Family support, social media handle help Rutba to chase dreams

Srinagar: During Covid-19 times when everything appeared to be monotonous, many people occupied themselves in different productive things like art, freelancing, job seeking, decorating spaces, and learning something new. However, some emerged with baking and cooking as well.
In one such instance, a young girl from Elahibagh, Buchpora area of Srinagar outskirts, Rutba Posh also started baking cakes, making it inventive as well as crafty, formulated as “Sweet frosting box”—Cakes by Rutba Posh.
Currently Rutba is doing MBA at Central University of Kashmir. Besides her passion for baking, cakes are getting more refined every day.
“I used to watch YouTube videos where I learned about baking cakes. I worked on the different techniques from cracking eggs to melting chocolates,” says Rutba.
“At the initial period of my baking, I made my first cake for my family, and the most memorable part was they paid me for that cake in order to boost my caliber and strengthen my confidence,” she adds.
“There was a lot of drenching on social media where so many people were already at a high spike in terms of cake work and baking so I decided to stop. But a friend of mine suggested that I should continue it by promoting my social media handle with the name ‘Sweet frosting box’.”
“Slowly and steadily, I got my first order. To my utter surprise, I got my second order from my school ‘Green Valley Educational Institute’. On the occasion of farewell, they appreciated my work and increased my reviews for giving me the best compliments in terms of quality and the taste,” Rutba further says.
“My mother is my backbone as she helps me in so many ways like the designing, ingredients, opinions, coloring, themes etc and my father has always been supportive. He too helps me in getting the raw materials like flour, eggs, leavening agents such as baking soda or baking powder, which is required during the time of baking from the market,” Rutba adds.
For placing orders, she runs an Instagram page by the name “Cakes by Rutba Posh” available with the home delivery and the contact details so that the customers can communicate with her regarding their orders and the delivery timings.
She has 2,086 followers on her Instagram page and is getting a great response in terms of quality and the products she uses in baking. Her way of baking is quite attractive and more pleasing, she makes themed cakes, Red velvet, Black Forest cakes, Birthday cakes, Angel food cake, Fruit cake, Cupcakes, Cheese cakes and so many other varieties so that many people can order it for some special occasions at affordable prices.
A young and talented entrepreneur, who actually beat a lot of strivings and hard challenges during the course of her startup, manages to defeat all the loopholes where she was about to surrender. She is making herself proud for being a self-sufficient person in times of crisis due to Covid-19.
