BSF on alert ahead of R-Day: IG

Jammu: Ahead of Republic Day celebrations, the Border Security Force (BSF) on Monday said it was on alert for all challenges.

“Keeping in view the Republic Day and attempted nefarious attempts by anti-national elements from across the border, the BSF on the Jammu frontier is on high alert since last week,” D K Boora, the Inspector General of the BSF, told reporters here.

The BSF was on high alert all along the international border in Jammu frontier. “BSF is carrying out extensive an anti-tunneling drive, special patrolling and area domination despite extremely hostile weather,” said the officer.

Mobilization of troops has also been done. “Regular monitoring of suspicious activities of our counterpart is being carried out through surveillance equipment,” he said.

He said joint patrolling and exercises were also being conducted along with the Army, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and the Jammu and Kashmir Police.

“BSF has been quite successful and consistent in foiling attempts from across the border by eliminating Pakistani intruders, seizing huge caches of arms and ammunition and narcotics and detecting tunnels in the past one year,” said Boora.
