Policeman, civilian injured in Sgr grenade attack

Srinagar: A civilian and a policeman were injured after the unidentified persons hurled a grenade towards police patrolling party in Saraf Kadal area of Srinagar, police said.

A police spokesman in a statement said that today at about 1840hrs, militants hurled a grenade upon Police patrolling party at Saraf Kadal area of Srinagar.

“In this incident, a police man Selection Grade Constable Mehraj Ahmad and a civilian identified as Sartaj Ahmad Bhat of Saraf Kadal received splinter injuries,” police said.

They said that both the injured were shifted to hospital for the treatment of their injuries where their condition is stated to be stable.

Senior police officers immediately reached at the spot, police said, adding that the area has been cordoned and search in the area is going on.

Police has registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of law. Investigation is in progress, police said.
