India’s Omicron tally touches 578 mark, Delhi top the list with 142 cases

New Delhi:  India‘s total tally of new Covid-19 variant Omicron has reached 578 marks on Monday, as the infection spread in the two more states Madhya Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh.

Out of the 578 cases reported so far, Delhi reported the maximum cases at 142, followed by Maharashtra 141 and Kerala with 5, said the Ministry data on Monday.

Madhya Pradesh reported 9 cases whereas Himachal, which is the first state to fully vaccinate its eligible population, reported one case so far on Sunday.

Rajasthan reported 43, Telangana 41, Tamil Nadu 34, Karnataka 31, 6 each from Andhra Pradesh and West Bengal, four each from Odisha, Haryana and, three from Jammu and Kashmir and Chandigarh, 6 in West Bengal, UP reported one case along with Ladakh and Uttarakhand .

Of these, 151 people were discharged following their recovery from the virus.

Meanwhile, India reported 6,531 new coronavirus cases and 315 deaths on Monday, according to the health ministry. This pushed the total active cases to 75,841 and the death count to 4,79,997.

The recovery tally rose to 3,42,37,495 as 7,141 recupercated from the disease in the last 24 hours. Active cases stood at 75,841.

According to the bulletin issued by the Ministry on Monday, 67.29 crore tests for Covid-19 have been done so far.

“India has administered 141.70 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine so far under the ongoing nationwide vaccination drive” Ministry data said.
