Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government has constituted district level committees for setting up of 1508 model Common Service Centers (CSC) in the Union Territory.

In an order, a copy of which is in possession of The Precious Kashmir, the Rural Development Department has ordered constitution of committees headed by respective additional deputy commissioner for proper utilization of funds to be released for setting up model CSC in Panchayats.

The committee, according to the order, has been mandated to identity and recommend the location for setting up of model CSCs in the Gram Panchayats subject to availability of space/feasibility and accessibility to the general masses.

It will also verify whether the procurement has been made as per the following components for each model CSC through GeM portal.

“The district level committee shall ensure setting up of these Model CSCs in gram panchayats of UT of J&K as per the Memorandum of Understanding signed between UT of J&K and CSC e-Governance Services Limited and furnish a detailed report of established Model CSCs in their districts to the administrative department,” the order further states.

It is worthwhile to mention that CSC scheme is one of the mission mode projects under the Digital India Programme. CSCs are the access points for delivery of various electronic services to villages in India. They are more than service delivery points in rural areas.
