No public transport in evening hours irk commuters in Bandipora

Bandipora: The non-availability of public transport in evening hours has caused immense hardships to the people in several villages of this north Kashmir’s Bandipora district, locals complained on Thursday.

Hundreds of commuters, mostly office-goers and students, were seen stranded at the sumo stands and on the side of the roads in the market during evening hours.

Locals said that the people from different villages including Mantrigam, Arin, Sumlar, Aloosa, Dardpora, Khayar and other areas are facing immense problems due to the lack of public transport service in the evening hours for the last one week in the district.

Locals said that they have been arriving home late for the last several days due to unavailability of transport.

“Public transport disappears here after 4 pm, causing trouble for the people. The administration must look into this issue because not everyone has their own car,” Iqra, a commuter said.

Barik, another student, said that public transport is not often available in the evening hours and he has seen how anxious people are here during that time.

Meanwhile, the commuters appealed to the higher authorities to look into the matter so that they could heave a sigh of relief. However, an official from the district administration assured that he will look into the matter. (KNO)
