Soibugh’s VLW caught while accepting bribe

Srinagar: Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) Monday trapped and arrested Village Level Worker, Block Soibugh, Budgam for accepting bribe in lieu of signing the authority of works under MGNREGA, an official communiqué said.

Spokesperson said that ACB received a complaint that Reyaz Ahmad Mir, Village Level Worker (VLW), Block Soibugh, Budgam is demanding Rs 2000 as bribe from the complainant in lieu of signing the authority of works under MGNREGA.

On receipt of the complaint, a case FIR number 36/2021 PS ACB Srinagar under section 7 PC Act 1988 was registered and investigation taken up, it said.

During the course of investigation, a trap team was constituted, the statement said, adding that the trap team laid a successful trap and caught red-handed Reyaz Ahmad Mir, VLW Block Soibugh, Budgam while demanding and accepting the bribe money from the complainant in presence of an independent witness.

The VLW had earlier also demanded and accepted bribe money and demanded a fresh bribe from the complainant. He was arrested and taken into custody by ACB Team, it said, adding that further investigation into the case is going on.
