Govt constitutes steering committee for TPS

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir government on Monday constituted a Steering Committee for Town Planning Scheme (TPS) for construction of the Western Foreshore Road, Srinagar.

Headed by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, the committee comprises of Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar , Vice Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir Lake Conservation and Management Authority (LCMA) Member , Vice Chairman, Srinagar Development Authority Member , Chief Town Planner, Kashmir , Prof. Dr. P.S.N Rao (Director, School of Planning and Architecture, New Delhi), Paresh Sharma Chief Town Planner (Rtd.), Gujarat and K.K. Panday (Center for Urban Studies, IIPA).

Its terms of reference, as per an order, includes hiring the Consultant for the formulation of the Town Planning Scheme (TPS; steer and oversee the preparation of the Draft TP Scheme; finalize and recommend the Draft TP Scheme to the Government for approval; implement the approved the TP Scheme on ground, including the formation of SPV for its successful implementation.

“The Town Planning Organization, Kashmir will be implementing agency for the Scheme,” reads the order. (GNS)
