Uri Accident: Man working with JKALI succumbs after 11 days

Baramulla: Eleven days after being injured in an accident in Uri area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, a man working with JKALI succumbed to wounds in Army hospital at Udhampur on Thursday.

The accident happened on October 31 when a Baleno vehicle (JK05J-3523) driven by the man skidded off the road and rolled down into gorge on Srinagar-Muzafferabad road near Nand Singh Bridge Uri. The man identified as Tosief Ahmad Quraishi son of Mohammad Saleem Quraishi, a resident of Kalgi Uri, was grievously injured while his wife travelling in the vehicle escaped unhurt.

A police team rushed to the spot and took the injured, working with Jammu and Kashmir Light Infantry (JAK LI), an infantry regiment of the Indian Army, to SDH Uri. Later the injured was shifted to GMC Baramulla. Subsequently he was shifted to the army hospital Udhampur where he succumbed, official sources said. (GNS)
