Burglary case cracked within 36 hours in Budgam: Police

‘Stolen property worth lakhs of rupees recovered’

Srinagar: Police in Budgam on Thursday said that a burglary case was cracked within 36 hours by arresting two accused involved in the commission of crime, besides stolen property worth lakhs of rupees were also recovered.

Police Post Soibugh received a written complaint from one individual Showkat Ahmad Zargar son of Ghulam Nabi Zargar resident of Dambipora therein he stating that some unknown burglars entered in his jewellery shop located at Main Chowk Soibugh and decamped with gold items worth 10 lakh rupees approximately, a police spokesman said.

Accordingly, a case under FIR number 337/2021 under relevant sections of law was registered at Police station Budgam and investigation was set into motion.

During the course of investigation, CCTV footages were collected and on examination of these footages and circumstantial evidences, investigating officers zeroed in on two suspected persons namely Syed Zaffar Shah@Zaffar Safari, son of Syed Muzaffar Shah and Imran Hussain Malla, son of Ghulam Mohammad Malla—both residents of Yakhmanpora Pattan.

During the further course of investigation, both the accused persons were detained and while questioning both confessed their involvement in commission of crime. “On their disclosure, stolen property worth Rs 10 lacs approximately have been recovered which includes 25 Rings, 20 Ear rings, 02 double Jhumkas, 01 broach, 11 Jhumkas, 01 Choker set with top, 02 ear tops and a chain pendulum.”

“Both the accused persons have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. More arrests and recoveries are expected in the instant case,” police said.

Meanwhile, people appreciated the efforts made by the police for cracking the burglary case within 36 hours. “We assure community members that police have resolved to act tough against individuals involved in criminal activities,” police said.
