Two gamblers held in Ganderbal: Police

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir police on Sunday claimed to have arrested two gamblers in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district and seized stake money from their possession.

“Acting on specific information, a police party from Police Station Kangan under the supervision of SDPO Kangan raided a gambling site at Mammar Kangan following an input about gambling activities and apprehended two gamblers,” a police spokesman said and identified the duo as Manzoor Ahmad Magray, son of Abdul Rashid Magray of Padabal Cheerwan and Arshad Ahmad Khan, son of Ghulam Qadir Khan of Margund Kangan.

Officers have seized stake money of Rs 10,900 and playing cards from the gamblers, he said, adding that they have been shifted to Police Station where they remain in custody.

“Accordingly, a case under FIR number 129/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Kangan and investigation has been initiated,” police said.

Meanwhile, police said that persons found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law. “Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units,” police said.
