Militancy Conspiracy Case: NIA conducts searches at 8 places, two held

Srinagar: National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Friday conducted searches at eight locations in Srinagar, Sopore and Baramulla districts of Jammu and Kashmir and arrested two in a militancy conspiracy case.

The arrested persons have been identified as Amir Ahmad Gojri of Srinagar and Saddat Amin @ Syed Arhan of Sopore in RC-29/2021/NIA/DLI.

The case relates to conspiracy for undertaking violent militant acts in J&K and other major cities, by cadres of Laskhar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM), Al Badr and their affiliates such as the Resistance Front (TRF), People Against Fascist Forces (PAFF) etc, a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) reads.

It said that NIA had registered the case as RC 29/2021/NIA/DLI) dated 10-10-2021 and initiated the investigation. “Till now 23 accused persons have been arrested in this case by NIA,” it said.

The searches conducted today led to recovery of electronic devices and incriminating Jihadi documents and posters etc, it said, adding that preliminary investigation has revealed that arrested accused persons are militant associates/OGWs of various militant organisations and have been providing logistical and material support to militants.

Further investigation in the case continues, it said.
