Handwara: Inhabitants of Mankal and Chek-i-Sanzipora in Handwara have expressed deep anguish against authorities over the lack of road and mobile connectivity to the villages. The residents rued the alleged apathy maintained by authorities despite the issues brought to their notice on several occasions.

A local delegation said that the mobile connectivity is so dismal that they are unable to make calls from their mobile phones.

“We have to shift places to far off places from our homes to make calls as there is no signal available in and around the habitation”, a delegation member said adding with no mobile connectivity even in the 21st century the concept of digital world seems a mere illusion to them.

With regard to the road connectivity, a delegation member from Mankal said that a project was initiated to construct the road to the area in 2012 and parts of it were macadamized in 2016, however the department left the work midway as a result of which the road has developed potholes at numerous places. The dilapidated road condition is giving a tough time to the commuters even as the worst sufferers are the patients, they said.

The inhabitants of Chek-i-Sanzipora also decried about the similar problem saying that they have to face huge inconvenience amid shabby condition of the road.

Both the villages have been facing problems with water supply as many of the pipes have gone defunct over the period of time.

Despite making time to time appraisals to the authorities, our grievances seem to fall on deaf ears, the delegation members lamented adding we urge the authorities to consider our issues for an early redressal to alleviate our sufferings.

When contacted an R&B official said that the issues of both the villages are on priority list and the work on the pending projects will be started soon. (GNS)
