Amit Shah to visit J&K on Oct 23

New Delhi: As a part of the union government’s outreach to Jammu and Kashmir, Home Minister Amit Shah would visit the Union Territory from October 23-25, sources said.

The visit is a part of a major outreach drive being carried out by the Union Government, under which central ministers have been visiting J&K and interacting with people there.

It also comes in the backdrop of a series of killings of civilians, rise in ceasefire violations along the Line of Control and fresh infiltration attempts and terror attacks  in the Kashmir valley. Opposition parties have also attacked the government over the incidents.

The minister will also lay the foundation stones of some projects, and inspect the ongoing projects and schemes. He is also set to review the security situation in the Kashmir valley in wake of recent incidents.

Meanwhile, the Home Minister will also visit Andaman and Nicobar islands on October 15-17, and Uttarakhand on October 30.
