Panel formed to prevent damage to road due to snow clearance

Srinagar: As snow clearance in last winter caused extensive damage to roads, the government has constituted a committee to suggest measures and SoPs for the same in ensuing season.

Headed by Principal Secretary to the Government, Department of Rural Development & Panchayati Raj  Committee, the committee has been asked to submit the report by the end of this month.

The measures and SoPs for optimal maintenance of roads during snow clearance operations has been sought  so as to prevent damage to these roads and  obviating the need for their subsequent restoration, according to a government order, a copy of which lies with GNS.

The members of the committee include Principal Secretary to the Government, Housing & Urban Development Department, Principal Secretary to the Government, Public Works (R&B) Department,

Commissioner/Secretary to the Government, Jal Shakti Department, Representative of Central Building Research Institute, Representative of Central Public Works Department, Chief Engineer R&B Department and Any technical expert(s) to be co-opted by the Committee.

“The Committee shall be serviced by the PW(R&B) Department and submit its recommendations by 30-10-2021.”
