Srinagar: Veteran Urdu journalist and Executive Member of Jammu and Kashmir Press Association (JKPA) Qasim Sajad passed away at his ancestral place Anantnag on Monday after a brief illness.
He was above 70.
Meanwhile, Executive members of JKPA held an emergency meeting, chaired by GH Kaloo, to mourn the sad demise of the veteran.
Mr Kaloo said Qasim Sajad was well versed with Urdu Language and is on record to have contributed a lot to Urdu Journalism in J&K.
He was not only a prolific writer but a fire-brand Speaker too. The audience would get enchanted and enriched with his speech. He was editing a newspaper and has authored some books.
His passing away has left a big void which is difficult to get filled, Mr Kaloo said.
Qasim Sajad was an active Executive Member of JKPA and was part of many delegations of the Association. All the members prayed for the departed soul and expressed complete solidarity with all members of the bereaved family.
A number of other media organisations condoled the demise of Qasim Sajad.
