CBI arrests PDD engineer in bribe case

Jammu: The Central Bureau of Investigation on Thursday arrested a Junior Engineer Electric Division-II, JPDCL, Jammu for demanding and accepting a bribe for updating newly installed electricity meters.
CBI spokesman said a case was registered on a complaint against Junior Engineer, Electric Division-II, JPDCL, Jammu.
It was alleged that the accused was demanding bribe from the complainant for updating the details of newly installed electricity meter in the records, and for not charging electricity bill at flat rate, he said.
CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red-handed while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs. 5,000/- from the complainant.
Searches were conducted at the premises of the accused at Jammu.
The arrested accused will be produced tomorrow before the Special Judge, CBI Cases, Jammu, he added.
