Srinagar: Ninety two projects have been completed in the health sector under the Prime Minister’s Development Package (PMDP) for Jammu & Kashmir, while the remaining 48 projects will be completed by March 2022, official documents reveal.
The documents in possession of The Precious Kashmir reveal that Rs 500 crore were kept in the development package for creation of infrastructure at different levels in the health sector.
As per latest status report of PMDP, out of 140 projects sanctioned in health sector, 92 have been completed and 48 would be completed by the end of this fiscal.
Under the package, the government funds creation of infrastructure in district hospitals, sub-district hospitals, primary health centers over the past five years. The projects are being executed by the Jammu & Kashmir Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC), Roads & Building department and Jammu & Kashmir Housing Board.
Till July this year, Rs 800. 16 crore have been utilized for these projects in health sector against Rs 881 crore sanctioned and released for them, the status report states.
The PMDP was unveiled by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi during a public rally in Srinagar on November 7, 2015.
Under the mega development package, the Centre is funding creation of infrastructure in different sectors including roads, health, disaster management etc.
The development package with an outlay of Rs 80000 crore is spread over 63 projects in different sectors.
