IED detected, defused on Srinagar airport road

Srinagar: An improvised explosive device (IED) was detected and successfully defused by the security forces on the Srinagar-Airport road in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district.

Police said late Monday evening an IED was detected on the Srinagar-Airport road in the Gogoi locality in Budgam district.

“The area was isolated and the bomb disposal squad was called in.

“The IED was successfully defused without causing any damage”, the police said

3 locally made IEDs recovered in Kupwara

Meanwhile, security forces recovered three locally made Improvised Explosive Device (IED) from an abandoned shed in the frontier district of Kupwara, official sources said.

They said in a joint operation Army and police recovered three locally made IEDs from a shed at Kralpora in Kupwara.

Several persons were questioned, they said adding other sheds and houses were searched.

A case FIR has been registered and investigation take up, they said.
