RDD to keep an eye on its offices through CCTV cameras

Move will curb bad practices, improve work culture

Srinagar: In a move aimed at “curbing bad practices” and improving efficiency, the Rural Development department(RDD) plans to keep any eye on all its offices in Kashmir through CCTV cameras.

The Director, RDD, Kashmir has directed officers of the department to install CCTV cameras in all district and block offices. “It is impressed upon all district/ block level officers of this department to install CCTV surveillance system in their respective offices particular in vital sections having great public dealing,” reads the circular, a copy of which is lying with The Precious Kashmir.

The officers have been directed to submit action taken report to the directorate within 15 days.

“The requisite equipment be procured after fulfilling of all codal formalities. The action taken report in this behalf be submitted to this directorate within 15 days,” the circular states.

The move is aimed at improving efficiency and transparency in delivery of public services.

“In order to improve work culture, to curb the bad practices that hamper smooth disposal of official matters and to improve efficiency and transparency in delivery of public services, it is necessary to have surveillance in all district/ block offices of Rural Development Department viz. office of ACD/ACP/DPO/Exen and BDOs. The system will also ensure safety of government assets and official record,” read the circular issued.

The circular was issued by the director on 15th of this month.
